About Department


The Department of Pharmacy, IGNTU, Amarkantak was established at Lalpur, Amarkantak in 2016, is dedicated to excellence in pharmaceutical education and research. The department actively participates in industry-academia collaborations, skill development initiatives, and health awareness campaigns. These efforts help to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical pharmaceutical applications.  The Department of Pharmacy, IGNTU is a vibrant hub for pharmaceutical education and research, it continues to make meaningful contributions to the field of pharmaceutical sciences and public health in India.

Our vision is to become a center of excellence in pharmaceutical education, research, and practice. We aim to set benchmarks in innovative teaching, foster cutting-edge research, and promote interprofessional collaboration. By developing skilled, ethical, and compassionate pharmacy professionals, we strive to contribute significantly to improve health and well-being in our community and beyond.

Mission

  The mission of the Department of Pharmacy is to advance the precise, safe, and effective use of medicines through excellence in patient care, innovative teaching, research, and community service.

  We aim to develop competent, ethical, and compassionate pharmacy professionals who contribute to improving health outcomes in society.

       To impart students with outstanding healthcare education and training that enables them to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in pharmaceutical sciences to meet the demands of the profession, society and sustainable goals.

    To create a center of excellence by providing quality education to create globally competent, skilled professionals.

 Academic Programs

v  Two-years Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) program.

v  Four-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) program.

v  Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) programs in two specializations i.e., Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutics.

 

v Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in important pharmaceutical domains to encourage academic excellence and innovative multidisciplinary research.

    The Department of Pharmacy, IGNTU, collaborates with pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and research institutions to facilitate employment opportunities for graduates and postgraduates. Alumni have secured positions in regulatory affairs, R&D laboratories, quality control, clinical research, and academia. 

Research Facilities

Department of Pharmacy, IGNTU, hosts a wide range of research facilities that supports advanced pharmaceutical education and research in drug development and biomedical research

1.      Pharmaceutics Lab focuses on drug formulation and drug delivery system

Facilities:

Tablet compression machine; Tablet dissolution and disintegration apparatus; Zeta sizer; Spray dryer; Ball Mill; Capsule filling Machine; Ampoule Washing Machine etc., 

2.      Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab focuses on drug synthesis, analysis and design

Facilities:

Rotary Evaporator; Refractometer; Polarimeter; Deionization Based Portable Water Purification System; Milli Q Water Purifier; Fume Hood, Benchtop; Melting Point Apparatus; Water Bath Shaker etc., 

3.      Pharmacology Lab focuses on drug action, toxicological, preclinical studies

Facilities:

Animal House CCSEA approved; Rota Rod Apparatus; Digital Electroconvulsiometer; Organ bath; Histamine chamber; Plethysmometer; Analgesiometer; Elevated plus maze; Morris water maze; Centrifuge etc., 

4.      Pharmacognosy Lab focuses on study of herbal medicines and natural products extraction, isolation, and identification

Facilities:

Soxhlet Apparatus; Chromatographic chambers (TLC, Column); UV cabinet for phytochemical screening; Crude Drug storage and herbarium etc.,

5.      Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology Lab focuses on microbial testing, and recombinant technology

Facilities:

Laminar Air Flow and biosafety cabinets; Autoclaves and Incubators; Gel electrophoresis; BOD incubator etc., 

6.      Central Instrumentation Facility: UV Spectrophotometer; FTIR Spectrophotometer; HPLC System; Polarimeter; Digital Potentiometer etc.,
